A one act by Joshua William Gelb
"All we need to know of each other seems to be rather apparent. You stand on the ground and I am buried within it. You are standing on top of me, sir!"
Plot Summary:
Locked in a subterranean cell, an anonymous captive -- a mere voice heard screaming from the ground -- contrives to escape his prison when a young, inexperienced Guard comes on duty. As the two men struggle to both assume and maintain authority, a bleak game of deception, reminiscent of an old vaudeville, ensues in this black comedy.
