Something More Pleasant

A Fairy Tale by Joshua William Gelb
Conceived by Brittany O'Neill

"We're playing a game: Tiger bites Wolf. Wolf bites Roebuck. Roebuck bites the dust."

Plot Summary:
Set in a world where Grimm's Fairytales meet modern-day dysfunction, Something More Pleasant, tells the story of a brother and sister who plunge into a murky nearby wilderness in order to escape an abusive stepmother. Beset by a vengeful spell that transforms the young brother into a wild roebuck, the two children must subsist in the woods by themselves despite the inordinate hardships of growing up and growing apart.

But when a cruel and infantile king discovers the girl and her enchanted buck, a series of misfortunes will threaten to disrupt their storybook ending, turning the prospect of happily ever after into a grisly blood bath.

A play as gruesome as it is hysterical, Something More Pleasant is a poignant tale about the unsavory quest for that ever elusive happy ending.
