TULLY (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER)

by Joshua William Gelb and Orion Stephanie Johnstone

My first collaboration with composer/lyricist Orion Stephanie Johnstone was a chamber musical inspired by the ancient-Roman erotic-poetry of Catullus, the fragmented nature of which served as the inspiration for our non-chronological treatment, in which Catullus (nicknamed Tully) sorts through fragments of his poetry revealing a history of passion, political intrigue, and ultimately heartbreak. Stephanie intricately orchestrated the score for piano, harp, clarinet, bassoon, cello and percussion. After a sold out run in NYMF 2007 it received an extension and was awarded an honorable mention for excellence in music.

Tully (In No Particular Order) was first presented by Michael Height as a workshop at Theater for a New City in 2006. Designed  by Bradley King and Joshua William Gelb. Featuring Adam Hose, Cassandra Vincent, Patrick Porter, Sarah Shahinian, Evan Jay-Newman, Owen O'Malley and David McGee.

It was subsequently presented at the New York Musical Theater Festival in 2007 with Adam Hose, Kate Rockwell, Austin Miller, Autumn Hurlbert, Evan Jay-Newman, Owen O'Malley and David McGee.
